Crazy shirt for my boy... work in progress

Well... my son wanted me to make HIM something with my sewing machine... so I asked him "what?" He said a shirt. So, then I had him pick fabric. He picked the Michael Miller Guitar waves and I grabbed the Hot Picks to coordinate with it for the pocket and collar. The pattern I'm using is an altered version of one of my grandmother's old patterns from the 60s.

Can I mention that I really don't like the vintage pattern instructions??? The outside says "simple to make." I BEG TO DIFFER.

So, here people - is my work in progress, my labor of love for my son ... I just have to clip my threads and do the buttons... then comes having my son model his shirt...

A Wrap Around Jumper for Miss Nikki

Here's my latest outfit sewn for my 1 year old daughter Nicole. It's a wrap around reversible jumper made from a vintage pattern of my grandmother's that she found in her closet last week. I've been DYING to get my hands on one of these patterns and she just happened across it... in size 1, too! :)

I made it in Michael Miller and Moda fabrics... very groovy. There are two pockets in the front, too! She'll be able to wear it all summer with a onesie and bloomers and this winter with shirts and pants as a top, too!

Check it out!

Renovating...

I'm "renovating" at Valley Momma this weekend...

Since "some company who shall remain nameless'" patent is sooooo completely vague and they are HUGE and I am, well... just me sewing in my dining room... I'm taking the loopy tags off the strap covers and the loopy tag toys. *SIGH* Who knew that the simple thing of sewing looped ribbon onto two pieces of fabric could be patented?? Not just on blankets, but just on any ol' thing. Talk about VAGUE! I should patent using buttons to close a shirt or zippers, or well, anything!

Anyhoo-- after brainstorming with my hubby at Boston Beanery, I have figured out how to keep my strap covers both #1 Original and Unique and #2 pretty!! I also will retain the basic loopy tag toy shape, but have something different planned for the teether sticky-outy part. Still will be a GREAT first gripping toy for baby for sure... and will, as always, be available in all my fabric choices.

Oh ye readers of the blog - you will get first glimpse of the new renovations...

Leave me some love - it's been a rough day.
