Trifold Wallet

New to the shop today! I've wanted to design my own wallet for some time now. I just haven't been happy with the ones I've seen other people make. My main problem with others is that it seems like the credit cards will just slip right on out of the wallet! So I made one that actually will keep them in place!

The wallet all opened up! Four credit card slots and 3 roomy pockets for cash, receipts, coupons, etc.

Close up of the main part of the wallet.

The wallet folds from right to left and then from left to right. There are two velcro closure spots to ensure everything stays in its place!

Here's the link to the listing in my shop! Go check it out!

Christmas Loungewear

My son wanted me to make him some Christmas PJs. He picked the Christmas fabric from my stash that he wanted and I went to Target and got a plain shirt and then appliqued the Santa on it. The pants and the Santa applique are from Alexander Henry fabrics. Here he is modeling his new loungewear for the holidays!

Auto Sneeze -- an Etsy favorite of mine!

I haven't had time to do much posting, but thought I'd start some entries on here on some of my favorite Etsy buys.
This first one is great! It's very useful, unique and attractive, too! It's the Auto Sneeze Tissue cozy for your car visor! This item from The Mod Mobile on Etsy is wonderful! My son is always asking for a tissue from the back seat (well, he just screams "BOOGER" at me) and I never was able to get to one while I was driving... then voila! The Auto Sneeze saves the day! I can easily get to a tissue without being distracted while I'm driving! She has them available in many many different designer fabrics (all of which I LOVE!) and includes a starter pack of travel size tissues, too!

This would make a great Christmas gift for anyone really, especially parents of young kids who scream "BOOGER!". And at $7.00 plus shipping, it's a really good buy too! So go check out The Mod Mobile and see for yourself! While you're there also look at her Auto Trash Car Litter Bags. I have one of these in my car as well and just LOVE IT!

Ballet Bag

Here's a ballet bag that I made for a friend's 3 year old daughter who is taking ballet. What do you think? I'm making another one with black accent ribbon now and I'll
post pics of that when I get it done.

This bag has a quilted lining and coordinating inner side pocket. The straps are accented with grossgrain ribbon. The outside of the bag looks like a tutu with the tulle and ribbon. I also sewed on a "necklace" and some shiny buttons!

Cute Picture for Today

My kiddos this past weekend in the woods at a wedding we went to!

The winner of the August September contest is Carli! August/September Contest

Ok. I really don't know what to offer up as a prize for this next contest... so why don't you all leave me comments suggesting what I could give as a prize? I'll hold the drawing on October 1 and see who wins. If the winner's suggestion is reasonable (of course! I'm crazy, not stupid!) then the winner may get what they've suggested! If it's not deemed reasonable (please be reasonable, people!) then I'll decide on a different prize for the winner from other people's suggestions. :)

So here's what ya need to do... leave a comment to this blog entry suggesting what you'd like to see me give as prize (prizes) in this giveaway. Then you're entered... simple! It doesn't have to be something that I already make... I'm pretty handy with the sewing machine, so if there's something you'd like to see made, but I don't currently make, go ahead and suggest it! New items are fun!

Good luck! (oh, please leave an email address or another way for me to contact you if you are the winner!)

Mini-Contest

Hi... just a quick contest because I'm in the mood for something fun... The first person who correctly leaves a comment saying where exactly I am in the following pictures will get $5 off their purchase in my shop. Happy guessing! (this picture was taken on 8/16/08)

UPDATE: We have a winner... thank you babycartlidge! You must have done some good Googling to figure that out! "Foamhenge" in Natural Bridge, VA. :) hehe

My new T-Shirts!

Ok, so I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new t-shirts! I put in an Alchemy request for custom screenprinted t-shirts for me to wear out and about and at my craft shows... and the first bid I got was the one I ended up choosing... I sent them the shirts and they printed them right away! Got them in the mail today and I'm in love! Check out what a great job they did...

If you ever need something done quick and done well check out Precision Engraving on etsy. They are wonderful! They even have wall decals that are reasonably priced and very very stylin'!

Let me know what ya think of the new shirts!

July Winner

Hey -- I know, I'm a slacker... but I finally drew the name for the July Contest and the winner was Misty! She thought a good name for my sewing machine would be "Bessie." I think that's an awesome name and congratulations Misty on winning the toddler/travel pillow!

I'm going to post the August/September combined contest here in the next week or so. I'm trying to determine a really nifty prize. :)

Stay tuned!

Oh - Tuesday was my birthday and I got a SERGER! I'm so excited about that! I can't wait to learn how to use and make new and exciting things I couldn't make before!

Batmania...

Here in the Valley Momma house I am surrounded by the world of comics. My hubby loves him some superheroes. He likes his graphic novels, comics and all that stuff. As such he has introduced this love to my son. :) Friday was of course, opening day for the "Dark Knight" Batman movie. We went to see it... LOVED it. VERY VERY good! Go see it if you can... it's by far the best movie I have seen in a very very long time!

Anyhoo - my hubby wore his Batman t-shirt that day and to the movie (yes, he's THAT guy). My son asked "where's MY Batman shirt?" - to which we answered, you don't have one, buddy. So, I got an idea and made him one out of some scrap black fabric and one of his white hanes undershirts. :)

---

This pic has nothing to do with my post, but I couldn't leave Miss Nikki out of the blog. :) This is me and her at the local fireman's carnival here last week. :) My headband and necklace were Etsy purchases! I LOVE them! Seriously, if you want a great headband at a great price you need to check out the shop I got mine from. I have like 6 of them! It's the SewFoxyBoutique... Go there... NOW!

My FIRST bolt!

You'd think with my very severe fabric addiction that I'd have bought a bolt of fabric already, right? Wrong! Today... my very FIRST bolt of brand new fabric came in the mail today! I'm SOOOOOO excited! I actually hugged the darn bolt! It's one of my favorite prints... the Alexander Henry 2d zoo blue! Here it is! I hope to be able to afford to buy more bolts of my favorites in the future!

Yes, I'm THAT crazy... I posed with my bolt of fabric. :) But I LOVE it.

Heirloom Lap Quilt

I needed a break from sewing orders, so I decided to sew for fun. Sometimes ya just gotta take a break!

I made what I'm calling an heirloom lap quilt. It's a small sized quilt backed with chocolate minky. I used all vintage fabrics which I bought from people on Etsy (except the minky of course) and did a lot of decorative stitching. There are the words "love", "hope", "faith", and "joy" stitched on the squares as well. I'm giving this to my daughter and I hope she will keep it always. :)

Let me know what you think!

July Contest

Helloooooooo!

Time for the July contest! This contest, you are going to work for me! My sewing machine needs a name. I think it's about time that he or she had a proper name. It's a Shark (made by EuroPro) Intelli-Sew. It's white and the light bulb has started to go bad and kind of looks like a strobe light at times. My son has started decorating it with his Batman stickers. It lives in the corner of my dining room.

That should be enough info to get a good name right?

Anyhoo -- suggest a name for the machine in a comment to this blog entry and you'll be entered into this month's drawing. The prize this month is a toddler/travel pillow. See picture for example... they are generously sized and excellent for traveling and even as a small travel pillow for adults. Once again, I'll probably do 2nd and 3rd place prizes too -- most likely coupons for the shop or whatnot.

Crazy shirt for my boy... work in progress

Well... my son wanted me to make HIM something with my sewing machine... so I asked him "what?" He said a shirt. So, then I had him pick fabric. He picked the Michael Miller Guitar waves and I grabbed the Hot Picks to coordinate with it for the pocket and collar. The pattern I'm using is an altered version of one of my grandmother's old patterns from the 60s.

Can I mention that I really don't like the vintage pattern instructions??? The outside says "simple to make." I BEG TO DIFFER.

So, here people - is my work in progress, my labor of love for my son ... I just have to clip my threads and do the buttons... then comes having my son model his shirt...

Pretty Little Flowers Dress

New Dress in the shop!
This is a super cute one piece dress made with Michael Miller's "Pod Posey" designer fabric. It has a high rounded neckline, kimono sleeves and an inverted pleat in the front. There is also a super nifty flower button sewn on the front for added flair!

This dress will fit approximately 12 months to 24 months. It is based on a vintage pattern, which tend to run large. My daughter in the pictures is 15 months old and it fits her, but loosely. Questions about sizing, just ask! This is the only one available in this fabric. It's ready to ship now! Thanks for looking!
